Matthew Seipel, Ph.D.

Dr. Seipel has been a licensed psychologist in Wisconsin since 2022. He currently performs a variety of forensic mental health evaluations through Behavioral Consultants, Inc. and the Wisconsin Forensic Unit, including Competency to Stand Trial, Not Guilty by Reason of Mental Disease or Defect/Mental Responsibility, and Conditional Release/Violence Risk.

Dr. Seipel earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Cardinal Stritch University in 2012. He completed his Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Marquette University in 2015 and earned his Doctorate Degree in Counseling Psychology from Iowa State University in 2020. Dr. Seipel obtained clinical training in a variety of settings during his graduate education, including forensic, psychiatric, medical, community, and university placements. As a graduate student, he also taught several undergraduate psychology courses and published research in peer-reviewed journals. He completed his predoctoral clinical psychology internship at the Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center in North Chicago, IL, where he provided psychological assessment and treatment to military veterans and service members, including compensation and pension evaluation. Following the completion of his internship, Dr. Seipel completed a postdoctoral forensic psychology fellowship with the Wisconsin Forensic Unit, where he received advanced training performing a range of forensic mental health evaluations of juvenile and adult clients, as well as providing competency remediation treatment for individuals adjudicated incompetent to proceed.
